Choose a release date to see your six-step timeline.
This is a suggested planning timeline. Distributor delivery windows, eligibility rules, and submission deadlines vary. If a task falls in the past, prioritize what is still useful and adjust your release date if needed.
Your music release checklist at a glance
Use this as a working starting point, then generate dates above. Distributor lead times and platform submission rules are separate requirements you should confirm before choosing your release date.
- Four weeks before: confirm the recording, artwork, credits, and release goal. Allow extra time when your provider requires it.
- Three weeks before: prepare your artist story, press assets, and a researched list of relevant contacts.
- Two weeks before: create a few content pieces with different angles and check your promotional links when available.
- One week before: share a clear release announcement and confirm your plans with collaborators.
- Release day: check the live track and credits, share your strongest content, and reply to listeners.
- One week after: review available results and follow up with another story angle.
How to plan a music release
Start with a realistic release date, then work backward. Finish the record and artwork, confirm credits, prepare your story and content, and decide how you will reach the listeners most likely to care. This planner turns those decisions into dated reminders.
What if my release is less than four weeks away?
Use the checklist to identify the essentials you can complete. Confirm delivery timing with your distributor first, then focus on accurate assets, working links, and a small set of strong content pieces. A shorter timeline may require a simpler campaign.
Does this submit or distribute my music?
No. This tool creates a planning checklist. It does not upload music, submit playlist pitches, contact venues, or guarantee streams or placements.
What happens to my information?
The release name, date, and checked tasks stay in your current browser tab. Download your plan before leaving if you want to keep it. Using the planner does not subscribe you to email updates.
